Invisible Computers: The Untold Story
of the ENIAC Programmers
(A Documentary in Progress)
ABCNews.com/Technology: ENIAC Programmers Documentary Makes Headlines!
The story highlights Kleiman’s quest to make this documentary and the difficulties of women in the computing field today.
During WWII, the world's first software developers were recruited by the Army to program the quirky ENIAC, the first all-electronic programmable computer. These six pioneers invented many of the concepts of programming, and remarkably, in a high-tech version of Rosie the Riveter, they were all WOMEN.
Unfortunately, time marches on and we have already lost three of the original six ENIAC Programmers, two in the last few years. An urgent project is underway to produce a top-flight documentary to tell their incredible piece of history, and it needs your help.
We need your help! Your donations will allow us to introduce this dramatic and exciting history as a life-changing documentary and story while some of the ENIAC Programmers are still with us! Together we can inspire girls, and boys, to believe that computing careers lie within their grasp. Please assist us with a a tax-deductible contribution on our donations page.
For more information on this significant project, read our overview of the dramatic story of the ENIAC Programmers, and our team dedicated to telling this wonderful story.
Together we can leave computing history fuller and more accurate than when we found it!
Best,
Kathy Kleiman
